Gamo CFR Whisper IGT .177 Groups and Pellet tests
« on: November 03, 2015, 03:20:10 PM »
Hi all,

Brand new rifle, only had probably 120 if that pellets through it so far.
10 Mtrs
5 Pellets at each.  Bench'd, but only rested at the front.

In the first image.  Using RWS Superdomes. 0.54g 8.3gr.
When I get my hands on some different pellets, I'll do some comparisons.

Cheers

Dingo

Hey mate,
I know you've shot before so I don't want to teach you to suck eggs at all, but I thought I'd offer some thoughts:

10m is an interesting distance to shoot because even an average springer will shoot pretty good groups, so it is a great distance to learn about the foibles of the shooter.

If I was coaching someone with the groups above, and assuming their artillery hold was kosher, I'd suggest:

Target:
Top left - OK
Top right - OK
Centre - Trigger finger or trying to muscle onto target with your shoulder (heavy trigger doesn't help) (horizontal stringing)
Bottom left - Breathing (vertical stringing)
Bottom right - Shoulder again

Of course the order you shot the targets in is useful to know too. Also, where was your offhand? Was it up by the sandbag? Back at the butt? This makes a difference too.

Hope I didn't ramble.

Okay so the picture is on it's side.  :(

Top left 1st, Bottom Left 2nd.  Middle 3rd. Top Right 4th,  Bottom Right Last.  If you put it up the right way. :)

1,2 and 3 I was playing around with the trigger adjustment.   And holding it a little hard into the shoulder.  So they ended up being forced, as you said.

4 + 5 Yeah, was nice, got the trigger a little better than what it was.

I never stop learning so any feedback is most welcome.

:o  Starting to have withdrawal symptoms.   Have not shot since last Sunday.   Shift work sucks at times.  :)
