« on: May 08, 2016, 10:58:55 AM »
Personally:

Hardware
JVC DV cam (yeah, old eh?)
 - PAL DV 720x576 @ 28 mb/s, 25 fps
 - PCM 16bit, 48000 Hz, 1.6 mb/s

and my nokia phone (win! what times are these that i have better vido in my pocket than in a satchel!)
 - zeiss? 8.0 MP
 - (720p?) 1280x720, 3 mb/s, 30 fps
 - AAC, 48000 Hz, 128 kb/s

Software is a range of
(Debian GNU/Linux) in order of used-ness

vlc - viewing almost literally any video file
ffmpeg - converting literally any video file, resizing, extracting channels,
dvgrab - capture firewire (i knw ryt, old) stream from camera (usually piped to ffmpeg)
flowblade - advanced video editing, transcoding
openshot - simple video editing, transcoding
devede - rarely, but assembling vidos and chapters and stuff
aegisub - making subtitle files.

This is all free software/community maintained. Which I am all about. Donate if you can.
