illegal to shoot? or more ignorance?
« on: July 01, 2016, 07:45:06 PM »
hi all, ive been working AND shooting at 'undisclosed sawmill' in 'undisclosed town' now for over nine years. I've always had permission from the current site manager, and even encouragement to blast the rabbits destroying thr hill, and the pigeons shitting all over the timber.
fast foward to a new site manager, after shooting a couple bunny's with the new 460, it dawned on me to ask for permission..... to which he replied. 'its illegal' :/
hmm really? its private property, there's NO chance of annoying any neighbours, and I'm 100% confident that no pellet will ever leave the premises.

now, while he did say it was illegal, he still gave me the ok, but at my own perill. if i get caught, im on my own and he will deny any knowledge of my being there.
so, its great to have the 'ok-ish' but it leaves me puzzled. does he know something i don't?  some of his statements were 'an air rifle?' 'will it kill them?' and 'i just dont want any wounded animals running off'
lol its an air rifle, not a bb gun. any way. any ideas where hes getting the 'illegal' from?
cheers

its illegal to ~"discharge firearm or airgun in or near DWELLINGHOUSE that MAY frighten or annoy..."
the letter of the law. Sounds like a typical dose of ignorance...

As long as you have Property Owners, or Managements approval, there should be no problems, if you feel you may wish to cover your ass, then maybe some sort of written agreement where they nominate you as their pest control contractor, and you put down some guide lines of your intentions.

I shoot pigeons in car park buildings in the middle of the city here in Wellington. Even on Parliament. I always ring the police and they are happy so it can't be illegal.
But if you do something stupid you will be in trouble.
