Cyclonic impact
« on: December 01, 2017, 11:14:35 AM »
Went out last night to get some of those Wellington cdb  pigeons wingman was complaining about. The felt the force of the cyclone wearing it's new tactical style stock.
These guys were well and truly settled for the night and so I had the luxury of getting comfortable and getting my placement spot on so they just keeled over.

Actually I havent been using the scope cam as its some pretty technical and fast precision shooting on a very large farm of new crops.. loads of 4wd fun.. my permit expires in a few days so need to get back out there this evening.. Filming can be quite a hinderance.
I have another large wetland/pond puke job to do that might be easier.. more of static set up

I tried filming on a job once, and it was too much of a distraction. I put the camera away within 5 mins of starting. The side shot mount looks handy.

I have shot a few around a food warehouse. I was using my 12 fpe, .22  p rod and polymags. They were quite used to humans, so i was within 15 - 20 m and a good hit at the base of the neck in front of the wing dropped them.

Shooting them sounds like a good tactic for sure but I never get within 50 m of them on my permission. Think the cocky gets stuck into them at every opportunity

50 meters is plenty close enough.. any closer an you could just wring their necks 😁.

Almost all the birds kulled on that permit were taken over 100y out in new maize fields..

Fish and Game prefer they are culled with shotguns but this was a noise sensitive area and close to houses and roads in places.

A little off topic but curious about your pest control jobs? Is it worthwhile or more of a subsided hobby? Thinking it could be a nice way of justifying hunting excursions to the wife! ;)

For me, its one aspect of my job. I do general pest control for food factories, supermarkets etc,  and fumigate import cargo, so end up getting to control mainly pigeons in these areas. You want to pick the likes of Wingmans brain for getting permissions for shooting. I would say though, that once you get your name out there as being not a gun weilding nut and get the job done, you will retain work and get more by word of mouth.

"Dear wife, I am a professional, I also need to procure another gun "  😁
