Husky 65 cal
« on: December 03, 2017, 08:09:54 PM »
My other obsession. Was fortunate to be able to pull out these siblings this week. A mate is thinning out some old man pine in the area I go for rabbits, and invited me to help him. He's got a nice log splitter too, so I now have next year's wood plus extra. Gotta love that gnarly disinfectant smelling resin that comes from these trees. Teenager gets to stack it this week, once if gets out of bed. 😉

I read the headline and my first thought was what has he bought now-- .65 inch calibre.
Husky as in tough - not as in Husqvarna.
That looks like Cypress to me, otherwise known as Macrocarpa and the smell of freshly worked Mac is delightful.
PS a bit soft for a new stock for the 97 but looks nice and the pale colour goes golden brown with age.

Definitely old man pine Nova.  Yes, I thought the calibre reference might catch someone out.

Caught me out to as I know Husqvarna do make centrefire rifles too!  I'm a Stihl man through and through with an old 044 and a little 020av, love getting behind them.

Don't you love those little square flakes of wood that are still in your work socks after being washed, and the way they spread through a nicely vacuumed house?
But the complaints fade when the house is warm in winter.
