S510 group 45m
« on: August 20, 2018, 04:28:54 PM »
Had a quick session while in a sheltered spot today. Put a target out to 45 m and was very pleasantly surprised at this little group from my S 510 and JSB Express .177. 3 shots. A couple other groups not as good, but would have hit a sparrow each time.

Probably, but just drew it by hand so I could see it better,
. I'm trying to use lower mag a bit more, so I put a square around the dot, kind of like the kill zone of a sparrow.

these air arms rifles pretty damned accurate paul, have shot blow flys dead at around that distance several
times.had couple targets here while back with 22 cal holes n little bitz blow fly round edges holes so
obviously didnt need head shots eh!!had this rifle for allmost 15 years now n allways been tack driver, you guna find s510 be the same with pellets it really likes.
the 177 lonestar got from you now shooting like tack driver, never owned a 177 pcp before and am
constantly amazed how well the little caliber shoots n performs.
 cheers mike

I was sitting, with my back against a wall, and the gun rested on my knee. I've got this gun set up in a bullpup stock and its very comfortable to shoot. I'm not the best shooter on the block, so at those distances I'm happy to be able to shoot sparrows, so to get a group like that is pleasing, but the point is that the gun is bang on. I was sighting the gun in for a job where I had to shoot sparrows in a shopping mall, and the sparrows were roosting up in a glass canopy, so I had a bit of pressure to A, not miss and break glass, and B, hit the sparrows. Being able to rely on the gun doing it's part is major. So the S510 has now taken the role of the cyclone. It's regulated at 65 bar, 11 ft/pd, carbine, so smaller tank, but getting around 80 shots with 220 bar fill.
I'm using the JSB express pellets which are slightly lighter, and I'm finding I've got a very generous zero distance, from around 20 m out to around 40 m, where there's minimal vertical difference in POI.  So this is perfect set up for me.

Enough details Stevo? Cramp in my typing finger  :D

You may recognise the stock if you cast your minds back to wingmans marauder bullpup build. It's a match made in heaven. Accuracy and handleabilityism all filled into one.
