How to add pictures or other media.
« on: May 27, 2012, 09:49:30 AM »
To add images as attachments (like the image at the bottom of this post) click the "Attachments and other Options" link below the message box.  This expands various options including a browse box for an attachment. Use this to browse to your attachment and click 'post' to post the result. Please note that only members can see these attachments.

To add an image inline with the text you can use a service such as photobucket and paste the url between the image tags. These look like this
Code: [Select]
[img] your url goes here[/img]. The image tags are located just above the smileys to the left.

Sample inline image

To add a video simply paste the url into the message box and a package on this forum takes care of the rest.

URL tags are added automattically like this:
Code: [Select]
[url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6dJrW01kYg#ws]BKL Scope Rings and Mounts on an Airgun Setup[/url]
and the result looks like this:

Gidday Possums,

Thanks a lot for the help about pictures they are about as easy to load here now as in the UK.
Only one little problomo though, with the caption blah under the picture it runs too far to the right so the enlarged picture won't move over. I guess you'll just have to put your specs on.

Thanks a lot John.

Can photos be made smaller on screen?

Only problem is that the photos are too big to be seen all at once.  A remedy?

Graham, look at the size of the original uploaded files. They are way to big, if sized down before uploading to something like the size used on Trade Me they should look fine.

Hi Dajo and Graham,

I don't know if you are talking to me but thanks for the info..

My dog Willy, he's a bugger when he runs off and you call him back, you feel a right Plonka.

That's my Dick we rescued a coupleof years ago we have dozens of Dicklings now..

That's my Fairline that one's a mistake, can't find how to delete the bugger now!!

I know they are big but please click on that last Dickling picture to enlarge,
they bring a lump to your throat!! PS If you do click on that bottom Dicky picture
you can just make out the wifes motor LOL..

Hi John,

Of that last lot of photos the first two are massive files but the boat shot is possibly a bit small. When you export your pics you should have a choice of jpeg, raw, tiff or some such and a 'fit within', size. If you keep the size to fit within 600x600 they should come up in pretty good quality on the forum but those big ones come out at around 4ft x3ft.

I still have to do this myself yet but haven't gone through the photo hosting site stage as yet and not really looking forward to it but will have a go shortly.

Hi All,

Ken has made some changes to the way that image files are displayed on the forum if you choose to upload them via the Attachment option.

Images will automatically be resized to a maximum resolution of 1024*768, which makes them easier to view and keeps the file size down.

Upload some images, lets see how you like it.

I can get the images to attach under my threads no worries, but when I use to try and insert my photobucket URL inline in the thread all I end up with is some form of postage stamp looking ICON on the thread where my Pic should be. Is it an Image size issue ??

It shouldn't be anything to do with image size but I don't know whats causing it, try using a different browser or maybe disable some browser addons.

The postage stamp icon suggest to me that it's a setting in your browser
